Winter Styles to Stand Out

Tis the season to get warm and cozy in fashion-forward styles! Due to colder weather, we have the opportunity to add more layers of looks! This season is one of my favorite as I’m able to wear seasonal, cold-weather favorites like faux fur, thigh-high boots, and sweater dresses. Keeping that in mind, there are 5 MAJOR trends that you NEED to have in your closet this winter.

Embellished, puffy sleeves

In short, it’s alta moda – or high fashion in Italian. It’s about the expression of drama on the shoulders for me lol With the puff sleeves, you’ll still turn heads in a room while staying warm and fully covered. Once you have a top or dress with a puff sleeve, the outfit is pretty much done. You just add a basic, color-coordinated bottom (for a shirt puff sleeve), a pair of booties and you’re on your way!

Earth-tone plaids

I love, love, love a flannel plaid! It’s warm, comfortable, and multi-colored. To add a little bit more of a fashion- forward edge, you can layer on earth-tone plaids. A forest green plaid + a burgundy plaid = 100% flavor.

Chunky Boots

You remember those Steve Madden ads from the early 00’s where the cartoon women’s feet where astronomically bigger than the cartoon’s body? Well, that’s a little bit of the idea here with the season’s trend: chunky boots. These are boots that look militant in nature, are a bit heavy, and come in a variety of colors. In a streetwear sense, these boots ideally will be worn with anything you would wear in your normal day-to-day activities. Dresses, jeans, sweatpants, you name it.

Red Accents

What’s the holiday season without red accents in your outfits? Now, I’m not sure who made that rule, but it’s definitely a thing lol If you’re not bold enough to wear a full red sweater or a red suit, wear red accessories as accents. This is a MUST. For the best outfit coordination, you can add a red accent as a pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic or neutral toned outfit. This can be a red handbag to a grey sweater dress, red earrings to a nude-toned outfit, or a red necklace to a black and white outfit.

Gold chain chokers

You may have seen gold chains, chokers, and other derivatives of this style for a few seasons now. I’m going to venture to say this is a fashion staple – a trend that will be in style for a long period of time. If you don’t already have a gold chain choker, know that they are very versatile and will go with just about any “around the way” outfit. You can dress it up or dress it down. It’s a piece you want to invest in to add a little pop of style to your outfits.
